Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to browse Magnito.bg, view the programme and get in touch with us, regardless of how they use the internet: with a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, a zoom function or on a mobile phone.
1. What we are striving for
The website has been designed in accordance with the WCAG 2.2 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Level AA. The website is partially compliant with these guidelines: most requirements have been met, and the exceptions are described in point 3.
2. How it works
- The website can also be navigated using the keyboard: Tab and Shift+Tab cycle through the links and buttons, Enter opens them, and Esc closes the enlarged image in the gallery.
- If the cookie banner is open, the Tab key moves to it first. Then, the first press of the Tab key displays a „Skip to content“ link, which skips past the menu.
- Each page has clear headings (h1, h2, h3), a header, a menu, main content and a footer, which screen readers can recognise.
- Images that contain information have a text description. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- The text and background have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, whilst large headings have a contrast ratio of at least 3:1.
- You can zoom in on the page, either on a mobile phone or using your fingers, and the text will re-format to fit the screen width.
- Every field in the enquiry form has a label that screen readers can read.
- The music will only play if you start it yourself: either by clicking the „Music“ button or by tapping the header section of the page. The video in the header sections has a pause button on a computer, but it does not load on a mobile phone.
- The animation on the home page can be stopped using the „Animation“ button.
- The website is also available in English: magnito.bg/en.
3. What is not yet fully accessible
- The two scrolling captions, at the top and bottom of the page, move slowly. The one at the bottom stops when you hover over it with the mouse. Both are decorative and are skipped by screen readers.
- The piano on the home page is a game: you can play it using the mouse, a finger or the keys from Q onwards. The screen reader identifies it as a piano and explains how to play it, but does not read out the individual keys.
- The maps in „Contacts“ and on the home page are photographs. The address is also shown as text alongside them, and tapping on them opens Google Maps, which is beyond our control.
4. How we carried out the test
Whilst drafting the declaration, we carried out our own checks: the pages in Bulgarian and English were run through the axe-core 4.10 automated test in accordance with the WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines, with no errors detected.
